Rewşen Bedirxan

Rewshan Bedirxan was born on July 11, 1909 in Kayseri, Turkey. She was a Kurdish teacher and writer. She was the daughter of Mir Bedirxan’s nephew Azizi. Rewshan Bedirxan continued her education in Damascus and Jordan and became one of the first female teachers in Jordan. In 1935, Rewshan married Celadet Bedirxan. Rewshan Bedirxan became a writer for Hawar magazine. In 1957, an anti-colonial congress was held in Greece; of the six Kurdish delegates who were to take part, only Rewshan Bedirxan ended up attending. In 1971, at the request of Mustafa Barzani, she went to South Kurdistan and founded the Kurdish Women’s Union in Haji Umran. The writer Rewshan Bedirxan is known for her social, political and educational activities. Rewshan Bedirxan’s works include many books and translations. Rewshan Bedirxan died on June 1, 1992 in Banya Syria.
